Blue Panelled Waistcoat & Hood LARP Set, 2 Pieces (Waistcoat & Scarf Hood)

A two-piece blue set: a panelled sleeveless waistcoat and a matching wraparound scarf hood, cut from the same distressed blue cotton blend so the two read as one layer rather than two bought on different days. The waistcoat sets the silhouette, the hood covers the head, shoulders or face.

What the set gives you

1. The blue panelled waistcoat, cut with flowing panels, broad shoulders and wide armholes so it moves with you and layers over or under armour.
2. The blue medieval scarf hood, with long wraparound ends. Wear it down as a hood, round the shoulders as a cowl, tucked as a snood, or wrapped up over the face. The weight sits evenly front to back, so it holds its shape over a long day rather than dragging on the throat or slipping off the head.

The waistcoat is the newer thinner cut, so it runs cooler for indoor events and long days than the heavier panelled versions. The panels fall from a high shoulder line, which is what gives the movement when you turn or reach rather than the fabric pulling flat across the back.

Blue is the cool colour in the range. It sits next to mail, steel and silver rather than fighting them, so the set reads scholar, healer or mage rather than brawler. Buying the two together means the blues match: cotton blend takes dye in small batches, and a waistcoat and hood ordered months apart can sit slightly off each other in daylight. These two are cut to go together, and the hood picks up the same distressed patterning as the panels, so worn up it reads as part of the waistcoat.

Why it costs what it does

You are paying for two coordinated pieces built to Chow's pattern, not a printed panel on a thin shell. The waistcoat carries real panelled construction, a shaped shoulder and armholes wide enough to work over a gambeson. The hood has the length in its wraparound to cover the face and still sit flat at the back, and it is weighted so it stays put instead of needing a tug every ten minutes. The cheap version of this look is a tabard tacked to a separate snood that never quite matches and never quite sits right.

It is worth being straight about what it does not do. The hood resists light rain and cuts wind, but neither piece is waterproof. The two also wash differently: the waistcoat is dry clean only, so it does not go in the machine with the rest of your kit.
